Read what students are saying about SEC!

Do Kyong, Korea

SEC is located in the best spots to have access to cultural and educational exchanges with any other foreigners naturally. Studying there will be a very global experience and an eminent decision to get an opportunity that can be needed for success. They offer a wide and systematic number of programs for international students - improving English skills with solid basis as a second language. And internship programs -focusing on the career for someone who wants to get valuable work experience in professional field.

They have expert teachers and each countries' counselors to assist students by teaching English from beginner to advanced skills and giving right directions of curriculum. Also, they have diverse activities ( field trip in Toronto, soccer club, trip via ISX travel agency, etc) to make a plan ,talk together in English even though both of them being international accepting each other's differences without problem.  These are traits that SEC only can reveal! When I've just settled in here, I was afraid of talking with my foreigner friends and teachers in English. But, whenever the time goes by of SEC, my English skills made remarkable progress and now everyone would say to me that I'm very talkative. Like this, SEC gave me by products of hard work and my time in SEC is more rewarding than i could have expected in many directions.

I'm really appreciate of everyone who head me to be professional in my life!

When I came to Canada, I was expecting to study in a good school, learn enough English to consider myself a good English speaker and meet a lot of new people. But my experience here provided me more than this.

I met amazing people who care about me and about my feelings, people whom I can call brothers and sisters. Now I can say that I have a big family around the world.

This is the end of my experience but is just the beginning of my life.

I just want to thank all the teachers and staff of SEC for the learnings and experiences that I had.

I want to thank my friends for all the moments that we had together and for being my family here.

Thank you everyone for one of the best experiences that I’ve had in my life. But more than this - I felt at home.

I have been in SEC Vancouver for almost 2 weeks now and everything has been great. My teacher is very nice, we do vary exercices in groups, so even in grammar class we speak a lot in English. People are fantastic, it is definitely rewarding to meet people from different places around the world. Everybody is really open-minded with each other and I truly appreciate it.

Moreover, to visit vary places such as Seattle, Victoria or Whistler. I came here not only to study but also to discover Vancouver and its surroundings, so I am thrilled to be here. SEC Vancouver was definitely the right choice for me.

During two months I had the possibility to join SEC Toronto. It has been the best time EVER – I will remember it forever. I stayed in a wonderful homestay with some other SEC students and my host mother who has just been brilliant. Furthermore I met people from all over the world – from Korea to Ukraine, from Mexico to Brazil and Saudi Arabia etc. In the morning I joined ESL grammar classes. The teachers are really awesome: You can not only learn a lot, but also have fun. I loved the variety of different things we did during classes: speaking (lots of conversations) , reading, listening, grammar. As I volunteered at the front desk twice a week I could also see SEC from another point of view. I could do interesting tasks like making ready orientation packages, preparing students’ certificates and even some phone calls for group reservations – I really appreciated this experience a lot!

Thanks to the activity calendar SEC offers there are many outstanding areas to discover outside school – I recommend a French Canada trip to every student.

I would like to thank everyone I met during those 9 weeks and recommend this experience to everyone: you won’t regret it!

Some of my friends the last year visited the United Kingdom to study English. When they came back that described their trip as something magic, something that made them remain astonished and without words. I wanted to improve my English too so I decided to go abroad. It wasn't difficult for me to decide where to go, Vancouver in my opinion is one of the best cities in the world; for the safety, the life quality and the multiculturalism that shows how many different cultures can live together. I will forever remember this trip not only because of the city or the places I visited but mainly for the people that I will leave here. My homestay family, my teachers and all the staff from the schools that helped me every day. I will never forget all my friends, the people who made these two months unforgettable. I will recommend to everybody an experience like this it will forever change your life and your vision of the world.

The first time that I thought about coming to Toronto, I couldn’t imagine the great experience that I am having this summer.

I have almost finished my degree at university so I need to improve my English to find a good job and I also need a good score at TOEFL exam for studying the master that I will start next year. That is the reason why I decided to travel to Canada for three months.

SEC has given me the opportunity of meeting a lot of new friends, from many countries around the world (Korea, Japan, Brazil, Russia, Ukraine…) and learning English at the same time. I chose to do a grammar and speaking program during one month to take contact with the language, the city and the culture and then two months of TOEFL course to prepare for my exam. The teachers make the classes very funny and help us to do the best on our pronunciation, reading and writing. I thought TOEFL course would be repetitive but it really isn’t! We have a lot of conversation time about many topics and we also practice every king of exercises in the same way that we will have it in the exam.

Classes take me from 9 to 13. After that, I always have lunch with my mater an then we spend our time doing a lot of activities in the afternoons. For example, sometimes we go to the beach, or we go to a small for shopping or we watch a Blue Jays baseball game at Rogers Centre. Canadian sports tickets are much cheaper than Spanish ones so it’s a good opportunity to have fun with your friends and cheer on the local teams. These are just some examples but there are much more things to do in Toronto like parks, museum, Niagara Falls, and night clubs.
